The CBS poll--another sterling example of extrapolation taken to a gross extreme. It certainly does throw percentages around like manhole covers...but they only questioned 856 people. Now be honest: do you really believe that 856 people in a nation of 300 million represent what the majority actually thinks?
Thank God there are some sane people still left in this country who are no longer buying the Hope and Change BS.
Actually, the President and the 111th Congress actions, did bring about a lot of change.
Look at the change, the 2010 Mid terms brought about. Obama and the 111th, exposed the truth about Washington's, Progressive policy, the political machine and career politicians.
Lyndon B. Johnson was an example of how to get things done in Washington DC. Agree with him or not, he was able to LEAD based on his principles and a ton of blood, sweat, tears, and compromise.
As Johnson famously said: "In Washington it's not who you know or what you know, but what you know on who..."

Admittedly, it is a pretty shallow sample. Typically, in a nation of 300+ million people, a sample size of 1,200 will suffice. The smaller sample size means a larger margin for error.
Shallow? Yes. Irrelevant? Absolutely not. This President is nearing the end of his one and only term.
A recent CBS poll (now this is from a left leaning organization) shows that the majority of Americans (54%) feel as though Obama does not deserve to be re-elected. Further, only 33% feel as though he has handled the economy well.
These are terrible, yet telling, numbers for Obama and foreshadow the landslide loss he will experience in 2012. The libs are becoming desperate, clinging to the hope of four more years of fiscal misery for the nation, but the balance of the nation has had enough.
To answer your question....No. He promised change and then basically followed the Bush game plan. In fairness he inherited that economic mess which goes back decades in the making with every president except perhaps Bush I kicking the can down the road. (And guess who got to be the 1 termer? )
However, like in 2004...if the opposition fields a candidate so utterly pathetic (see Kerry) then you can win by default so to speak.
Obviously you are considerably biased given your choice of words and desire to blame the entire mess on the "libs" but look around at the spending and bubbles...that's bi-partisan.

Welcome to statistical sampling Fred. There are a number of factors that are required to take a valid poll and you should note the +/- margin of error they posted up.
As long as you've been around here with people posting up polls....to be throwing up red flags because of this seems intentionally obtuse because you don't like the results.
If the reps run Newt then Obama will likely win despite some of these numbers so cheer up.
No, the problem is who deserves to be elected? The only GOP candidate who comes close is Paul, but he is too fringe, so it's not going to happen. So once again, we go to the lesser of two evils. or 3rd party
