Well, they asked US to leave the bases in Pakistan, and we are leaving, but we are leaving with the money.

What do extremists gain doing anything? But they still do nutty things.

I am all for other countries telling us to get the hell out since our gvt is broke and we are not smart enough to leave on our own. I hope there is a wave.

If that day comes, then they will have to think about the option, but wouldn't you agree that a pre-emptive war against a country with nukes is a little extreme? We can't attack countries just because they might turn radical in the future.

Indians have repeatedly said it is in their interest to have a stable Pakistan. Indians dont use big words but thier Naval chief issued a statement a few years ago that if Pakistan did use a n weapon first, Pakistan would simply cease to exist.

Pakistan is barely held together now. Its military still controls much of the political thought process and has a lot of power. Pakistan has trouble brewing in various provinces. We all need it to stabilize, else it will be controlled by extremists (excepting for a few cities). Right now, it is almost a failed state. It is in everyone's interest to see it succeed but it is hell-bent on destroying itself by being "too clever" by supporting terrorists that go into India, by getting US aid and killing terrorists in Afghanistan, by looking the other way while its scientists sold nuclear technology, etc etc.

Here is an interesting article from an expert who actually understands that region:
