Extremism at its best. Instead how about you explain where the money from unemployment goes ultimately? Swiss bank accounts?
Unemployment benefits only help if they have paid in. Once they have depleted their unemployment in your state, they have to apply for federal unemployment...........that's when it's no longer from their money they earned. Now the taxpayer is paying their unemployment. If our government is borrowing this money, how is that helping the economy??
No they don't. And the percentage the poor pay in taxes is nowhere close to zero...
Drop the talking points. Research. Come back.
Nice try, but pretending that the poor don't get INCOME tax back is a lie.
But you'd rather pretend that the rich don't pay sales tax. More than the poor, since they probably buy higher ticket items.
I think the kettle is black, considering the whole "the poor pay taxes", while conveniently not specifying that they pay not income tax, is a typical Soros talking point.

Cutting these people off the rolls won't do anything but hurt. Whether it helps or not, depends on how it is funded. But it would be wrong to assume it won't help.
But the massive military budget is not a part of this, huh? That is well-funded...righhhht. Money is fungible!! I can't believe I had to explain that to you. Please stop with your incredibly annoying act. You destroy every thread on the P&OC board.
What "massive military budget?" The military is only approximately 22% of the budget. Certainly not "massive."

Between 2001 and 2010, overall federal budget grew by 45%. During the same period, defense spending grew by 80%. Now, it isn't even debatable that 45% increase in government spending is a lot. Considering that, what would you call a growth of a whopping 80%? If defense spending grew at the same pace as the rest of the government spending, that is an additional $170 Billion of the money we don't have.
The Pubs are intentionally torpedoing any attempts at economic recovery in the mistaken belief that that if they prolong the recession, the public will forget it was the Pubs who gave us the economic meltdown 3-1/2 years ago.
Next November's election will prove that tactic to either be brilliant or retarded.

I'll repeat, the military is only approximately 22% of the budget.

So the rest of us, should continue paying and having our government borrow money from China,or rob another give away program, to pay for people to be on unemployment. This doesn't make an ounce of sense.
Some of those OWS quit their jobs to draw unemployment, so they could protest. With this kind of thinking, no wonder we're in this mess with China.
Come on, admit it. Look what's going on out there. There are many jobs that used to pay $75k-$90k during the Clinton era that now pay only $50k! It's a corporate paradise -- Republicans do not want to pass the social security payroll tax cut because it doesn't help millionaires as much as it helps the middle class... they know that it's starting to work... And it will work to boost demand... And we know that republicans want unemployment as high as possible and the economy in the chitter so Obama doesn't get reelected.
This economy is demand-driven, like everything else in the world. It's like pulling on a string...you gotta put more money in the working/middle class peoples' pockets to really get a recovery going. Every idea the republicans come up with are essentially 'pushing on a string' ... tax cuts for millionaires and billionaires??! Really? The unjustifiable 15% taxes on capital gains?
All republican policies are doing is the following:
-Keeping unemployment as high as possible = labor costs for corporations as low as possible
-Pandering to the defense industry, the military industrial complex
-Creating inflation that the working/middle class has to try to deal with
-Pouring money into multi-national corporations, foreign investments in China and the BRIC countries,
-Building up multi-millionaires' positions in hedge funds, that are driving up oil, gas and other commodity prices that we all end up paying for in the end.
This country sucks.
The only exception might be Ron Paul.
GOP puts party politics before the middle class or fixing the economy. They dont care about 1 in 2 Americans losing their jobs or homes.
