My dumb old wife used to say "we are poor" - my wise old mother used to say "he who has no arms and legs is poor" - It's a religion - a belief system - If you believe you are in utter poverty - your poverty will increase - If you believe with all your heart that things will work out and you will survive well - You will do better...Yes there is a segment of society that I know - who have access to billions of dollars....One gentleman I knew died recently....I have known this guy for nearly 40 years....He was respected and over 1000 people showed up for his funeral...He did buisness deals that amounted to billions at a time - He donated to all charity - sat on the board of a few hospitals...ran dozens of corporations - and NOW he is dead....and I with 5 dollars to my name am ALIVE - who in this scenaro is poor? I would say the dead person - I am rich!

That's what the republican corporatists want.

Aren't you happy?

Bye-bye middle class.

Hello slave wages.

Just what corporations want.

Why go overseas for slaves when they are creating them right here in good old America!

That is a good attitude to have and better then the opposite of drowning in negativity. Our household is poor but we know that we have good resources and connections where we can turn things around. We also know that there are people in this country way worst off then us. We have made a right decision that we rather be poor in the country then poor living in the ghetto.

Are best resources is each other where we can all pull the wagon together and when one is down the others pull harder until that person gets up.

Not to get religious but the story you told about is it better to be rich and dead or alive with 5 dollars was a idea written by King Solomon put another way " It is better to be a alive dog then a dead lion" And you and the King are both right.

And yet...those European countries generally have far lower poverty rates. And some have higher density of business startups, lower corporate taxes, lower unemployment...methinks something is wrong in your reasoning.
