Here in Vermont we have Civil Unions and I think that's a great way to go. I have a number of gay friends, both single and CU'ed and they are all quite content with that as well.
I also think the Federal Gov't should leave social issues up to the states.

I have a civil union and I live in Texas. Of course, I am a female and I married a male, but we went to the courthouse and purchased a license from the great state of Texas to get married. All rights we enjoy thereunder are guaranteed to us by a secular authority. The license states that it is a marriage license, so that would presume that a the civil institution that issued it considers marriage a civil union.

Two grown, consenting adults, however, should be allowed to enter into the contract, and just as we never thought twice about the "next" consequences of allowing blacks to enter into marriage contracts with whites after the end of segregation, it is pointless to worry your head with the most bizarre combinations of "what ifs" down the line. Good thing you're still thinking about that "incremental change" thing, though. I knew that once you realized it had nothing to do with math, you'd come around.

I really need to learn to read ahead; you've just stated everything I did, only better.

saying that senator craig was a liberal in hiding all 25 years of his political life.. to further the gay agenda is ridiculous.. What person in their right mind would not only VOTE but propose so many anti-gay legislation all of his career.. being sooo consistant.. so that it could lead up to him coming out in a public bathroom scandal? I happen to live in this man's state.. and if he's been in it for us gay's all this time.. we're still waiting to see the benefits from it.. cuz lord knows idaho is not on the top of the list when it comes to siding with ANYTHING that is pro-gay. Thats ridiculous.. you're ridiculous.. the only thing this man has done is.. hindered a group of people (gays) time and time again.. then only to make us look even worse by engaging in the dark practices that SOME disgusting members participate in... The only thing from this is the satisfaction in him destroying himself and his credibility along the way... he condemned and oppressed from the legislative bench.. only to condemn and oppress himself in the process..
I'm glad this all came to a light.. perhaps now these sicko's will think twice about going into a bathroom for sex.. whether they're GAY community members.. or "straight married family values" men... The nation is watching now... and I only applaud it...
