You have to love Obama's tribute to the Jewish people, lighting all the candles on the menorah at the same time, two weeks early. Would it have been so hard to have the little ceremony tonight and light two candles?

Tonight is the first night of Hanukkah. The main candle ("the Shamash") on top is lit first and then it only lights the first candle. Tomorrow night the Shamash lights two candles and so on. What Obama did was a pre-Hanukkah photo op, nothing more and nothing less.

A famous debate took place in Talmudic times concerning the order in which the Chanukah candles should be lit.

The school of Shamai said, "On the first day, eight candles are lit and thereafter they are gradually reduced by one each day."

The school of Hillel said, "One the first day one is lit and thereafter they are progressively increased."

Hillel explained that as we increase the light, we increase the holiness in the world. (Talmud Babli, Shabbat, 21a) Hillel's group won the day, and one more candle is added each of the 8-days of Chanukah.

He did that? LMAO.

I had to work late tonight, and just got home... then realized I forgot to buy candles (when I stopped at Wal-Mart on the way back), and I'm too lazy to go back out. So I have an unlit menorah in my window, which might be even worse than what the President did. Whoops, guess I'll have to make up for it tomorrow night! I did sing the prayers, though, if that counts for anything.

He meant it as an insult to Jews. Don't you doubt it for one moment. Nothing he does is without multiple motives, and usually headgames, too.

First it was the Christmas tree bit, now it's this.

Man, the attacks are getting pretty desperate.

LOL... I think it's kinda cute when Gentiles try to reach out to us, and fail miserably.

I was raised Catholic, yet when I meet people I don't view them as primarily as Catholic, Christian, Muslim, Jew, or Gentile, I view them as people first. When I do put people in categories it's usually cool people versus arseholes.

Strange concept right.
