Hillary has her own little brigade strength force to do with as she pleases now. Wonder how long until this turns into a complete and utter disaster. I'm sure it's will all end up Bush's fault in the end of course.

"By January 2012, the State Department will do something it’s never done before: command a mercenary army the size of a heavy combat brigade. That’s the plan to provide security for its diplomats in Iraq once the U.S. military withdraws. And no one outside State knows anything more, as the department has gone to war with its independent government watchdog to keep its plan a secret"

Sheesh!! Xe ( whatever they're called now) are civilian contractors - not State Dept. security services. Your set of opinions are not facts, and it is all of Bush/Cheney's fault from the beginning!!

Besides, why would they want any "chicken livered" Repubs anywhere near influencing protection efforts?

Amazing.

Contracting "oversight" was a dirty word during the Bush administration. But it's a good thing now? Conservatives thought it was a metaphor for interfering with administration plans and strategy for war.

But now.....

Mr. Hope and Change isn't ending anything.

The Iraq war and US participation in it will go on indefinitely.

They are private workers contracted out by the government. They can do whatever they want and the government doesn't have to tell you what they do.

Pretty nice situation for the State Dept to be in..not having to account for what "someone else does".

Academi formerly Xe formerly Blackwater ARE NOT and HAVE NOT operated in Iraq since 2007. They are banned not only by the State Dept., but by the Iraqi Gov't.

There have been approx. 800 different contractor(s) operating in Iraq since 2004. Blackwater was only 1 of 100 providing personal defense security.

And for the record, only about 60% of those "contractors" are American.
