US troops are leaving Iraq, because Iraq has kicked them out, not because Obama withdrew them. The facts are that Obama was attempting to negotiate a treaty to keep US military personnel in Iraq through 2015 and Obama failed to successfully negotiate a treaty.
Thank god they have kicked us out since we had no business being there in the first place. Who the hell cares why our troops are leaving and coming home. Obama did that. Please stop calling posters ignorant when you don't agree with them

Why do we (or some) want to keep troops there in the first place? What do we have to gain? The only thing Iraq has that's worth anything is oil, and guess what...they aren't selling it to us. It's an Islamic theocracy...Muslims will go on killing Muslims, nothing we can do will stop that.

The best arguement I hear is that Iraq is a buffer to contain Iran. Contain them from who? They are thousands of miles from our coasts...and if Iran attacks another middle eastern country...who cares? Again...Muslims killing Muslims for the most part. Most other religions have progressed past their level of violence...and some cultures have progressed past mysticism as well. Eventually the same thing will happen in the ME. It's up to their citizens to fight for and establish a government not based on brutality justified by superstition...not ours.

The only reason to give a crap of course is oil. Had we spend the same amount developing ANWR and our own off-shore sources, the ME could return to the 13th century and no one would care.

Thank you, President Obama!
Thank President Bush. This was his time table. Obama had tried to get the Iraqi government to let him keep some troops in Iraq past the deadline.

Yes, thank god, because if they didnt, Obama would have kept troops there even longer DESPITE his campaign promise to bring the troops home and despite the agreed upon timetable of the previous administration.

There was a binding legal agreement between the US and Iraq for a 2012 withdrawal signed in 2007 by the Bush Administration and the Iraqi Government. That's why they didn't agree on Obama's 2015 timeline.
