I saw this anti-drunk driving ad on television a while ago, and it gives me a creepy "big brother is watching you" type of vibe. What do you think?

So far, our secret police force does not involve itself with drunk driving. Right now they are focused on finding "terrorists". But I suppose that will change with time.

Hilarious. We saw the second ad last night and I mentioned to my wife that I felt an odd 1984 vibe from it. They're horrible ads in any case.

Sorry that I didn't get them up quickly enough... you were pretty quick on the draw with your first post.

As for the ads, I suppose that the "We're watching you" message in the commercial is a bit too much like "Big Brother is watching you" in the book 1984. This kind of thing makes me feel like they're going to have me install a telescreen in my house or something.

Looks like I stocked up on that life-time supply of razor blades in just the nick of time.

Eh, maybe they should have been mugged/raped in the parking garage and have been too drunk to resist. Probably more effective.

A specific problem I see with this ad is that it is done by the federal gov't, and depicts a random 'sobriety checkpoint,' which is still illegal in several states including mine. So here I have my fricking federal tax dollars going to promote something that is illegal in my state. It's stuff like this that pushes me towards voting for a Ron Paul.

Gov't advertising generally is a big pet peeve. Last year I recall a PSA campaign from the DOJ warning girls not to post naked pics of themselves online. WTF, feds? Since when is that your concern. You're 15 trillion in debt! Years ago I actually wrote to my congressman, Republican Dave Reichert, to complain about how much was being spent on ads. I got back a form letter back bragging about how much pork he had brought in to the district.

Completely tame and childish compared to the British and Aussie ones. Wish these ad writers would grow a pair.
