Because the consumer base acts like animals and thugs, Nike and Jordan "should do something about it."

I am waiting for Ferrari to lower their prices...or I might get all violent up in this shizzle.

Why don't these 'activists' (read attention hookers) advocate for decent, civil behavior on the part of the sneaker buying public? Welcome to the 21st century, where no one is responsible for his/her own behavior.

Yeah, that's pretty ridiculous. Anytime you get a big frenzied crowd this stuff happens...and of course the "community activists" cannot possibly point the finger and people behaving badly. It's always the fault of corporations or CEO's or some politician etc.

Corporations already care about consumer behavior..more to protect them though from stupid consumers.

We already have a gamut of warning labels. Maybe sneakers should have warning labels too.

"Wearing these sneakers could be detrimental to your health and life"
"Purchasing these sneakers may get you involved in a riot"

Riots aren't caused by corporations. Riots are caused by rioters. Whether it's a POS overpriced sneaker or a Cabbage Patch Doll there's no excuse for this behavior.

But if a corporation is a person. And a person is held liable for "behavior" that may affect the consumers (either by choice or otherwise) in our society. So, why not corporations?

Oh but there has to be. There is no personal responsibility and no one person is held accountable. It has to be someone else's fault and what better "person" than a corporate entity with no face ?

I've seen comments that blame Michael Jordan for the riots.

Nobody should be surprised here. The tail wags the dog in most circumstances these days. If one kid is allergic to peanuts, the whole school can't have peanut butter...

What these people don't realize is that if the prices of Jordans were lowered they would no longer have the appeal that they do now as a status symbol; they'd pretty much be turned into an entirely different product, and the next ridiculously expensive and therefore riot worthy brand would just take their place.

In Charlotte, people acted flippin' nuts over these ugly shoes. Mall management and store management should have never allowed the item to be sold after people torn down sliding doors etc......I think that is all a business can do, use what leverage you have to force civilized behavior.
