"Anthony Winn was arrested Wednesday after an airport screener using an x-ray machine saw the image of the weapon and alerted police at Kansas City International Airport, federal authorities said.

According to a criminal complaint, Winn had a Glock 9mm in a carry-on bag and it was loaded with 23 rounds, including one live round in the chamber."

Man charged with trying to take loaded handgun on flight from Missouri airport - CNN.com

Although not perfect (what is), this is why we have airport security. I still don't understand why it's such a problem for some. I just don't get it.

No-one is advocating getting rid of airport security. What people like me are advocating is getting rid of the TSA and the nude o scope machines.

This gun would have been caught using the x-ray machines in place prior to 9/11. It should have been found then, as it was now.

Adding 40,000 glorified clerks who violate the constitution on an on-going basis does nothing to enhance security and only provides great theatre.

You can opt out of your so called "nude o scope". The gun WAS found. We're the private security prior to 9-11 "glorified clerks". We know many were untrained and/or felons. I think simply have people that are trained and are not felons is an upgrade in and of itself.

I think people don't understand how integral the airline industry is to our economy.

No, that's what they told us about GM. If GM goes so does the US.
They haven't told us that about any airline company yet.

TSA finds guns and knives often (more often knives and i dont mean pen knives, they are rambo knives.)
they are on the person of angry and crazy people. the knife people they dont even arrest, just take the weapons. u think TSA is too hard on people???
the ingratitude of americans towards TSA is numbing.

I said "airline industry"...A terror attack interupts the entire airline industry. As far as GM, it was more like as GM goes, so goes Detroit and the American auto manufacturing.

I've not known of people to complain about having their carry-on luggaged x-rayed, only unneccessary radiation to their person or being felt-up.

MCI airport (Kansas City International) has privatized security, not TSA.

Yeah, it would suck to sit next to someone with an M1 Garand. There is not much leg room as is; or, did you mean a handgun magazine? (terminology matters).

Well, a G17 will not hold 23 rounds in the magazine + 1 in the chamber. I think the reporting is not accurate.
