It seems that when Americans talk about those things they have a hard time distinguish between those. Why is that?
They also seem to generalize that Europe and Canada are Socialists.
Without really knowing what Socialism means. To a certain extent America always has been a little Socialist as well, so they cannot say that America always has been pure Capitalistic.
Sometimes it seems that America just despises poor people and worship the Rich.
What do you think about it?
Here us what I think - firstly that you are a socialist...not a communist - in your mind - but in my mind whether it be socialism - communism or Marxist hard core doctrine - they are all bad ...because socialism ultimately is the capitialist elite's perfect tool...Once socialism is in place managers of the sytem emerge - and they have handlers - who are arch capitalists --People to not realize but all lefitist movements are financed by capitialists...socialists and commies have no money - go figure..
This often-quoted list is a perfect example of what the OP suggested.
Each of these concepts is defined in a deceptively oversimplified way. However, the only instance in which the hypothetical "you" comes out positively, is capitalism. Capitalism, for some reason, is also the only system in which the government has no role in your cow herding life.
Exactly. People spend years getting a Phd. in studying economic systems, and you have these yahoos who think they can summarize it by using analogies with animals.
Yes and Communism is where the government out and out owns all the means of production, including the human labor but socialism seems nicer when the government just says it has the right to take the money you worked for and spread it around as it sees fit. It still must own your labor if it has the right to take it away from you or demand that you give it up.

You're having trouble coming up with some differences aren't you?
And if it takes you 30 pages to explain it, then you really don't have the answer. These are just fairly short words that don't require a whole dictionary each to explain their definition.

Exacrtly, it's over simplification for the simple minded.
If you need to ponder it you've got a problem and it really seems that plenty of Americans have a problem in defining any political system.

Jesus , would it kill you guys to read just one work by Marx?? Just one.
In Communism the government withers away, there is no need for government. A sophomore political science major will tell you that, but then again schools are run with communists so you can't trust em.
Yeah, there is a big difference between socialism as defined by Marx, which actually has nothing to do with the cow analogy above, and "socialism" as defined by the right these days, typically going by what various dictators have called socialism over the years... also by some European countries.
But actual socialism has never been done. Probably because Marx never really outlined how specifically to do it, to him it was all an abstract theory of how capitalism would evolve.

That's an excellent point.
It's also important to understand that both Marx and Engels saw communism itself as a necessary step in achieving a "withering away of the state" altogether.
Using these terms interchangeably isn't misinformation, it's disinformation. It is in the interests of the controlling corporate class to insure that Americans remain comfortably numb. It begins with the creation of "buzz" words (communism, Marxism, socialism, "Obamacare", atheism, etc.). These words are defined so as to elicit fears that our way of life, our liberty, and our morals are at risk. The next step is to connect these words to one another; not by rational definition, but by emotional reaction to the fear they've now engendered. Lastly, equate any criticism of unethical capitalistic practices, with support of one of these now-fearful concepts.
A dumb and frightened populace is much easier to manipulate!
That's exactly how obama got elected.
