Since the Jefferson & Franklin quotes were never uttered by them, I would believe that any points of the founding fathers, have been lost by most who constantly quote them, incorrectly.

Well you know how hard it is to find accurate quotes these days. The others were if I'm not mistaken, including the one straight out of the federalist papers. Although I don't need a single quote to know that direct democracy doesn't work, and the quotes were only added as an afterthought to my original response.

Feel free to make an actual argument.

The recession and lack of jobs only drove the numbers upward this year.

The poll (Pew) had the following breakdown:

49% of the 18-29 crowd favor socialism
55% of Blacks favor socialism
59% of liberal Democrats favor socialism

Two typical "drumbeats" from the conservative side I see in your post.

1. Blame education and the parents.

2. Never blame the outcomes of capitalism.

Why is it portrayed this way?

If we remove welfare, social security (ponzi scheme), unemployment insurance, medicare, federal support of planned parenthood, and minimum wage this country would be in a much better place. If you disagree you are not a true capitalist and are part of the problem. And don't forget those despicable unions and so called public education. Vouchers for private education for people who deserve them.

We often confuse "social democracy" with pure "socialism."

I think this is a model most young people would lean an advantage to.

Read the quotes. Those guys knew better about government than you do. Mob rule is a recipe for inevitable disaster.

Are you in the top 49%?
you do know by how that the quotes that you built your political philosophy on are modern day inventions. You ever question why the supporters of this ideology needs to invent those falsehoods? If the message is so pure so true why do they lie to you?

I'm in the top 10% if that matters to you.

To the original post> All this tells me is kids have more access to information on what government in America does with all the taxes they take from it's people. Maybe they've realized that they would want more of that money spent on things we lack instead of things big businesses lack. Our capitalist society hasn't avoided useless spending, just spends it on truly useless things. Maybe they figure if they're going to take it anyway they might as well make sure it's spent on something beneficial to it's people instead of lobbyist fed waist, parades, research on the ridiculous, etc. etc. etc.
In Arizona Jan Brewer cut medicaid funding for transplants and in the same month oked more money to research on crop fuel for business. It gets a little sickening after awhile, watching people croak.
