Yes, this should be one of the major planks of any plank from the Republicans for November, 2012.

It ALWAYS is, thing is most Americans know it to be BS intended to scare the sheeple and in the process garner votes and sell more guns and ammo. Same old GOP song and dance.

Seems that all the liberals can do is blame the Republicans. They have nothing but opinion to support their statements (as usual), but are quick to blame ANYONE but Obama.

Would be nice if one of them posted a link or two supporting their theories,...but I won't hold my breath. All we get from most of them is just opinion, and little to substantiate their views.

Thanks for posting the link.

Hope you are correct that he is not slowing down his efforts. It would save a lot of lives.

Obama should institute a program about what manly power is - that it is not about weaponry - but about having power of the mind and spirit - about young men being real men who do not need a weapon - but that would be going against the classic projection of American power through force of weaponry - so how can he reform the nation when the governing elite - can not reform themselves - Kind of like a dad telling the kids not to shoot each other while pops is weilding and threatening the neighbours with a shot gun...You have to lead by example.

There are a lot of opinions posted on both sides of the argument. Where are the facts? Not from the NRA or Fox or CNN. Real, unbiased facts about laws passed. It seems like it should be fairly objective to look at legislation regarding guns under each President's administration.

Good thoughts, but America does not have that Utopia of which you speak.

A good leader is truthful. Obama doesn't fit the mould. Obama can't lead by example because he has not set a good example to follow.

This is how they do it.

Goodbye to All That: Reflections of a GOP Operative Who Left the Cult | Truthout

To be sure, the business wing of the Republican Party consists of the most energetic outsourcers, wage cutters and hirers of sub-minimum wage immigrant labor to be found anywhere on the globe. But the faux-populist wing of the party, knowing the mental compartmentalization that occurs in most low-information voters, played on the fears of that same white working class to focus their anger on scapegoats that do no damage to corporations' bottom lines: instead of raising the minimum wage, let's build a wall on the Southern border (then hire a defense contractor to incompetently manage it). Instead of predatory bankers, it's evil Muslims. Or evil gays. Or evil abortionists.

Really? That's news to me. Where is the evidence? Has Obama asked Congress for new gun laws? No. Has Obama issued any executive orders on guns? No.

All this is paranoia in the minds of the right-wing and has no basis in the reality.

Time to move on folks.

Here's a fact. Gun ownership has increased since 2005,...even before Obama was a blip on the radar screen. Although there was a noticeable uptick after Obama's election, much of that can be attributed to the close 5-4 decision of the Supreme Court re: gun ownership, coupled with the Supreme Court ruling in D.C. that caused a 2nd amendment stir.

When the Supreme Court is split so closely on the Second Amendment issue, it tends to cause a stir in the population at large. Logical reaction.
