The weakening of the influence of the TP and other extreme "CNJ" (conservative nut-job) factions?
Also will this end up with a 3rd party candidate that the more "CNJ" type die-hards can stomach voting for in the fall? (since a certain number of them won't vote for a moderate) Will they need a candidate with a more racist/homophobic {newsletters/voting record} past? Just asking. NOT calling names.

Thanks for not freaking out in advance.
So you think Ron Paul is more racist/homophobic than Santorum?
Romney topping all, is not a sign of people respecting conservative principles more, it is a sign of hatred republicans have against Obama (since him being a candidate, accelerated when he won the office and they all went nuts on the day he took the oath).
Santorum finishing second is about a thriving social conservative business that republican party needs for its survival.
If anything had changed with the GOP and its base, an adherence to principles over politics, Ron Paul would have been the top finisher.

That's what I hoped, but at least in Iowa, that's not the case. With Santorum finishing the way he did, I seem to have underestimated the power of the extreme religous right. It shows not only that they agree or don't care that he's corrupt, racist and homophobic, but also that they'd rather have that than someone who wants to legalize drugs or a Mormon.
It basically means that Romney has the nomination. If the bible thumpers there can't even beat him, they don't have a chance in more mainstream states. Santorum has no money to carry through any real campaign. The only way Romney was not going to win the nomination was a loss here. This thing is done.

Where do you get this crap?
1) How is the TP weakened, when Santorum is the most conservative guy left standing?
2) You ARE calling names. Stop calling us CNJs and maybe you'll be taken seriously.
3) Ron Paul has the most racist past so....
ETA: To clarify: There is no overt racism or "homophobia" from any of the candidates with the exception of Paul. Just b/c one does not believe gays should be able to marry does not mean that one dislikes gays or has any issues with them. I suggest you look up the definition of a phobia before jumping on the liberal bandwagon of labeling conservatives with this term.

Anyone who thinks that Paul is a racist/homophobe and Santorum is not, is confused at best.

You do realize he only won by 8 votes, right?
