Is this type of violence common after such events in Philadelphia and New York? Fighting after soccer games, especially in Britain and Europe is very common. Why so barbaric?

Collectivism whether it be a mob or some sort of sports union always brings out the worst in people - individuals are capable of having some personal thought and can make good decisions..where as the mob or even the international corporate collective have no heart...groups that form spontaniously or by design are more prone to violence than the singular person...I guess it's called the mob mentality....some one has to educate sports fans - apparently that was over looked in Europe as far as soccer etc...You have to explain it to the gathering that they are not to go nuts.
I live in Vancouver and thus our city is in no way able to make comments about a fight after a hockey game.
Plus it is the winter classic it is a for fun Game and supposed to show case the guys that paved the way for the way and well we rioted in 94 also after we lost game 7 to the Rangers in the Stanley Cup final So I have a huge dislike of Mark Messier deciding to come to play in Vancouver in the late 90's early 00's forcing Trevor Linden having to leave the team for a few seasons.
Besides that I have no issue with the Rangers or the Flyers just dislike Mark Messier

also "The Winter Classic is the biggest game of the regular season so it is naturally tense. Add that to an incredibly close game between two teams who are next to each other in the standings, and it just added to the intensity."
That is wrong Because the IIHF World Juniors are more important than the NHL at this time in the season starts now after the winter break to see what teams are in the playoffs and who faces who.
All I know Chicago and Vancouver are 1st and 2nd in the westren confrence and are modren day Rivals and the have some of the best playoff hockey in the westren Confrence.
It's the mob mentality. It's also the fact that people are ****ing idiots.
