It's just a shame that the GOP of today and the GOP of 1870 are two completely different things. Why don't conservatives realize this when anyone with half a brain should know this?
The Democrat party of today isn't the same as a few generations ago.

The neo-Dems are socialist/Marxist. They are a very dangerous bunch.

And here I thought we were making progress because Obama invited Jay Z to the White House
The facts you just mentioned have relevance, going back to the Republicans of 1870 did not.

Why not lower income taxes?

How does the social security program make up for the lost revenue?
That lost revenue will be replaced from the nation's general tax collections. So the people who actually pay income tax will be relied upon to make up the difference. More "wealth' redistribution.

You're pretty much spot on. I don't think that it's unreasonable for your opponent to NOT want you to vote because that gives their candidate a better chance. Kudo's to the Republicans for feeling that way. Doesn't bother me a bit.

But keep in mind that it's not your duty to justify your vote to anyone. Hell, you shouldn't even discuss it. If we're on the plantation, then leave us alone and worry about your own vote.

But what i'm not gonna do is explain to them how i'm not on the plantation and make a case about why i vote for who i vote for as if they deserve some sort of answer or explanation. If anyone should do some explaining, they can explain to me why they vote Republican, not the other way around. Don't ask me sh*t.

Bottom line, everyone should worry about their own damn vote and mind their business.

Uhhh, yeah. Both sides would rather have people vote for their side.

Signed,

Tired of something that is as unlikely as winning the lottery?

Actual voter fraud is just another figment of right wing hallucinations.

In your experience have you known (of) black conservatives who were poor? I ask this because I've long observed that in most parts of this country, conservatives tend to support regressive taxes and liberals tend to oppose regressive taxes. So I can imagine poor blacks (like poor whites) to vote Democrat in self-defense against higher taxes that they might get from Republicans.

This was my personal reality and drove me to vote for Democrats in self-defense - while Democrats were happy to tax YOU (the generic, middle class Everyman), my personal tax danger always came from Republicans. (Now I live in an area where Republicans hate regressive taxes as much as Democrats do.)
Well honestly, no, but I accredit that to fact that I reside in a blue state that is ultra liberal (NYS). From what I can see, the closest black conservative is probably bordering the Mason-Dixon line. But I can see where your concerns are though, but from where I'm sitting, I believe the tax rates and other economic problems supported by Democrats are ensconced by the social values that they use to get their agenda across. From my experience, they are willing to sacrifice, adjust and reconstruct social values and manicure those very problems with higher tax rates, which boulders us with a double whammy.

NY also does not require ID ... in fact I was shocked that I dident have to show ID. All I have to do is sign my name in the voter registry book and I am given a ballot.

IMO showing ID should be mandatory.

I wouldn't know, I always keep my ID with me and just assumed it was mandatory. But it sort of falls in line with illegal immigrants being able to vote. In NYS, Democrats argue that illegal immigrants are protected with the very same rights and priveleges as US citizens. Excluding their ability to vote is an infringement on their constitutional rights. They also argue that aside from that if you required everyone to have ID in order to vote--the 'disenfranchised' would be excluded by default. And they also don't like the idea that they'de have to pay for them, in their eyes, government should absorb the costs.
