The following are the only Senators who voted against the amendment to prevent the President from shutting down Guantanamo. Clearly it is an uphill battle to correct this travesty.

That would describe your world. The reality in America begs to differ. So, what was your take on the day he signed the executive order, personal and of the widespread "threat" of Gitmo prisoners being put in your neighborhood prisons? Of the missing documents? It will take proponents of Bush 3.0 to push that agenda.
If you want people to respond to your posts try to write something coherent.

So roughly 40 repubs, 1 independant and 49 dems voted for it. (forgive me if I screwed up the rough count)
3 more dems did not vote (Kennedy, Rockefeller and Byrd)
I guess, it would be politically inconvenient to mention that and everything that followed. No?
Then, you're only going to complain about lack of coherence.
On a positive note... the light may still be out there...

What do you people who want it closed
propose to do with the prisoners? Let em go?
Send em back? Send em to SuperMax?
You tell me. If they remain in custody,
what the heck difference does it make
what zip code they reside in? Do you kind,
compassionate liberals want them released? More Ex-Gitmo Prisoners Back At Killing Americans - HUMAN EVENTS

We should trust our system of justice. If we can't convict them in a court with a jury of their peers, then we shouldn't be holding them.
If they are foreign citizens and not subject to United States law, then we shouldn't be holding them either.
Until we declare war on a country, we shouldn't be holding any of their citizens without trial. We haven't declared war since Korea.
