“The Kentucky Republican and tea-party favorite said Thursday he’s returning $500,000 to the U.S. Treasury – money from his operating budget that his office never spent,” writes Scott Wong of Politico, and “he contends no senator has returned as much to taxpayers.”
If he was principled, he would opt out of his federal pension.
How about his Dad, promising to reduce his Presidential salary, if elected to something like $39,000? I suppose you have a smart comeback for that too?
It is amazing. Here is a politician doing something right and people are blasting him for it. No wonder this country is in the shape that it is in.
Thank you Mr. Paul for returning a half of million of the taxpayers' money. Thank you very much. Now only if spendthrifts, like Pelosi who spends almost $20k a month of the taxpayers' money on a lush office, would take note.
ALL elected officials could do that. They just choose not to....the attitude being "it's here, might as well spend it."
