They're still around and active as ever. You'll see them come back full force this spring/summer I think. It has only just begun.

And yes, they're still breaking the law. A baby was found abandoned in the DC camp the other day.

What is your point?

Ok, so they re-occupied Liberty Square. Is that what the movement is all about..being able to physically go somewhere ?

Are they just going to sit there and wait for change to happen by itself ?

I cannot speak for those at Liberty Park but this morning I recieved an email from one of the organisers of Freedom Plaza explaining the Mayor was going to close down the other Occupy D.C. camp at McPherson Square over health concerns, the mayor suggested those people join those at Freedom Plaza "At Freedom Plaza, he noted, there is a “greater attempt being made to adhere to good sanitary practices with waste disposal and food preparation.â€
I have been involved with Occupy Freedom Plaza since it's inception.
But even the organisers of Freedom Plaza have been tossing around the idea that it may be time to close the camp down, that it served its purpose and may be time to move on with phase 2 which is already being planned, they have already secured 2 houses in the area, one for the media group the other for planning events for this year.
The camps although they are valuable as a symbol for the movement have turned into a distraction, there has been an invasion of homeless persons that have taken up residence, while there has been an open door policy this does take away from the mission of the movement and there are avenues much better to care for the homeless in place.
Kevin Zeese one of thoe co founders noted that the Spannish Occupy movement suggests that physical occupations last no longer than 2 weeks because of problems that result which have been reported widely here such as homeless, alcoholism, addiction, mental illness etc.
He mentioned that he was up visiting with those from Occupy Wall Street and many said losing the park was the best thing that ever happened, it was taking up to much time and resources that could better be served.
