The forefathers made a grave mistake in forcing the South to join the Union instead of letting them secede. The South may have lost the civil war but today the South or at least the Southern mentality basically run the country and are in control of both of the major parties.
Short of another civil war, the best solution now would be to divide the US into two countries. I would suggest an even geographical split. Liberals get the top half of the US, conservatives get the bottom half. All the libs go to the north, conservatives to the south.
To the libs: Imagine if you lived in a country that had no conservatives? Imagine what you could accomplish? To the repubs: Imagine if you lived in a country with no liberals? Wouldn't you be a million times happier?
Why kill ourselves by staying together when we know we're never going to agree on anything? Its like a bad marriage. The best solution is for the two parties to part ways amicably so we can be free to do our own thing. Its about time we file for a divorce once and for all.
I'm moving back to Alaska, screw all you southerners!
Americans have become spoiled. While we complain about the economy, wars, debt, spending, etc, most of us really don't have a dog in the fight.
No armed conflict is going to change this country because we have a long way to go before large numbers of people are going to ban together and overthrow the government.
The economy will turn around, Washington will limp along the way it always does, and life will go one. The likely outcome of all of this mess.
Not going to happen. The exponential curve between the debt-financed fake economic growth we've had for the last 3 decades and any actual economic growth has grown far too large. There is no way to reverse that.

Our government isn't going to be overthrown/replaced.
I don't see that happening, either. People are either too stupid to recognize the damage the government has done, or don't care as long as they keep getting their government freebie services and benefits (that would be the 51% of income earners who pay NO federal income tax whatsoever).
The majority is quite happy remaining useful idiot pawns, thank you very much.
Just imagin everything above the 37th parallel N. one humungous San Francisco. That's a scary thought. <<<shudder>>> Also, consider that water resources flow from the north, and those liberal tree huggers would hoard the resources in a heart beat. The only way this would work is to divide the country longitudinally. This is a fun crazy game for the delusional, let's all play.
Seriously though, I take it you aren't a fan of the "devided we fall" creed? People can live together and enjoy differences of opinion. When you can no longer tolerate opinions that differ from your own, then you need to leave altogether.
Well you seem to be highly intolerant towards Americans who live in San Francisco. So why don't you take your own advice and leave the country?
You see what I mean? That's the problem. The left and right are so far apart on every little thing, we can't stand each other. We have zero respect for one another, as you have just demonstrated with your contempt and utter lack of respect for those with differing opinions. If it were up to you and your kind, gays and liberals would probably be rounded up and put in concentration camps.
So as I said, the best solution is to split the country in to two. The 'United we stand divided we fall' credo doesn't work when two people cant stand each other. That's why they invented this thing called divorce.
Why do people want to kill the elites when they keep voting them into office? Why not just stop voting for lawyers and the finance industry?
That would require people to actually think. Not going to happen.

What a wonderful election we have here, lawyer vs finance. Both these pursuits spend all their efforts laying claims to wealth, not producing it.Just stop voting for them.
I dont think so. The Wall Street protests are a wasted effort. Just as our founders found freedom with the use of firearms, I believe that the government no longer respects or fears it citizens. The rot runs deep. Call me naive , but all the rest of these protests and preceived "change" through voting mechanisms are smoke and mirrors.
Education would fix things. More people actually knowing what they're talking about before creating an opinion would result in better legislation.
