So you prefer the "simple" conspiracy, rather than the complex (extreme) types? The simple ones are more believable in your opinion?

Listen up .... we have had created for our consumption an entire paradigm ... we, meaning the general public, which is so totally distorted, that virtually everything you believe to be unquestionably true, is actually false. So false, that your truth is the exact opposite of the truth.

Former CIA Director, William Casey is quoted as saying .. "we will know we have succeeded when everything that the public believes is true is false".

For many of you, "they" have indeed been successful.

I used to Completely discount Conspiracy Theorist but after Snowden exposed all those documents I trust the government less than the Conspiracy Theorist.

Exactly. And not just Snowden.

I am increasingly more apt to believe any Conspiracy Theory involving the government trying to expand its authority. I wouldn't call myself a 9/11 truther, but because of everything that happened afterwards, I could see either our government(or Israel), or even the bankers, being at least partially involved.

With that said, I really despise any conspiracy theory involving "aliens". Or any creature that supposedly exists but can't seem to be found(IE Bigfoot).

-accusing others of being communists or socialists
-distrust of government in general
-foreigners are a threat
-distrust people of races outside of their own
-people of faiths outside of their own
-distrust the medical system
-distrust the pharmaceutical industry
-distrust corporations
-patriotism means defying the government through illegal means if necessary due to distrust of government
-distrust the formal education system particularly colleges and universities
-distrust of "mainstream" media

What is your opinion, do you think this is new psychological personality disorder?
and the other end is full of the naieve and blindly trusting/obedient?

Litmus test....'we have to pass it to see what is in it" if your BP doesn't rise when you hear that statement place yourself at the far end of the naieve end of the curve.

When the senate leader tells us Mitt cheated on his taxes for 10 years in order to handicap Mitt in his bid for prez and then HR admits its a lie and the media ignores this breach of trust and ethics and your face does not turn red if you are a Dem you can head right for the edge of the spectrum.

If you can ignore, 'you can keep your doctor PERIOD!' again go to the blindly trusting/obedient corner.

So when we are told 'it was the video' and Solyndra was a good investment and it comes from the highest levels of government it is healthy to question intent. When the media's bright light goes dark in favor of government behavior, and you see no problem, go quiclky to the blindly obedient corner.

Science has been hijacked and weaponized for political advantage. Science cannot live without challenge. Scientific findings are true only for a moment.

The propagandized OP question intentionally misdirects using invalid conclusions whose answers create a false impression.

There was nothing like the birthers when President Bush was in office. I certainly think we didn't get the truth about 9/11 but by no means does that indicate that I believed all the nutty theories that were being spread regarding President Bush being behind it. RW'ers, however, were so unable to accept the fact that President Obama was elected that they insisted there had to be something wrong with his birth certificate to the point they were trashing his parents, claiming they weren't really his parents with absolutely NOTHING to back it up. Everything regarding the birthers was debunked thoroughly. Moderate Republicans were embarrassed by RW extremists just as Democrats would be by far left extremists. These extremists are often the CT'ers. However, disagreement with aspects of gov't does not make one a CT'er.

You apparently believe that many of the things you quote in your first paragraph from the 2000 election being stolen from Gore to the Koch brothers, etc. only apply to Democrats. However, I know some Republicans who believe much of the nonsense about 9/11 and other conspiracy theories that were prevalent during President Bush's terms in office. Some of the things you mention aren't CT's IMO. They are actual facts as in Bush lied about WMD's. Cheney did make money from the Iraq war but I don't claim he wanted to attack Iraq in order to do so. The lobbyists put more than enough pressure on politicians to start wars in order to make money for the many corps. that profit from war.

The Koch brothers are behind everything? When two brothers are willing to spend as much money as either political party to finance candidates, you don't have to ask why, you know they are doing it to profit both directly and indirectly. To be quite honest, I don't know how anyone, despite their political leanings, can be happy with the legislation that allows this to happen. No single person should have anymore influence than another. We each get one vote and should each have a limit placed on our contributions as it used to be without being able to influence an election as a corporation. People are not corporations and the sooner Citizens United is overturned, the better off we will all be.
So the conspiracy theories that you believe in are true, lol. Is that type of denial & delusional thinking not a mental illness?

Being overly skeptical is much better than accepting everything the media and Government says at face value.

I believe in many things people would call "conspiracy theories", yet many have been proven to be true over time.

In fact even our financial system-the crux of our society-was "conspired" in secret by international bankers in 1910 on Jekyll Island.

People that say they "don't believe in conspiracy theories" are laying down a large blanket that ignores reality.

why not be skeptical of both equally?

i'm no cheerleader for the government. i was born in 1967 so my earliest memories of a US president was the fallout from watergate. i absolutely support a healthy distrust of government and i'm grateful to ron paul's recent actions to aid aspects of the patriot act in lapsing ( wether his motives were pure or mainly as a campaign stunt ).

that being said, from following birtherism these past 7 years i've seen a tremendous amount of gullibility and cognitive dissonance on the part of the conspiracy theorists that want to believe. i find it hilarious that they are quick to label others as mindless sheep but will completely embrace the most ridiculous theory, devoid of facts, if it agrees with their belief.

since following birtherism i've began to question my own beliefs on certain conspiracy theories ( namely the assassinations of JFK and RFK ) and hope to revisit them after the birthers have left ( jan 20, 2017 ) with a goal to try and get as close to source material as possible and keep some healthy skepticism about all secondary information.
