Here is a little info that should be considered BEFORE you vote and regardless of that read how much and who we send it to and this report in not in complete detail either. Consider we get $1.47 billion for homeless/poverty related programs and the UN alone gets 1.9 billion and votes against the U.S. 75% of the time and uses our support to prop up anti-American regimes!

Well, the US spends quite a bit more on social programs than $1.9B, thus the premise of your thread is mistaken. To boot, you're not considering what happens when you don't give aid and what the cost is when you don't give aid. There's a cost to doing nothing also.

Presidents both Republican and Democrat have a long history of helping those in need. President Bush's policies on AIDS, for instance, saved a lot of lives by sending drugs and help to the most affected reasons. The effort was driven by political will of both tree huggers and bible thumpers alike and is one of the most positive things in his legacy.

Your premise is mistaken also. Our aid ALWAYS comes with strings attached. We give a group called the Mujahadeen money and weapons to fight the Russians. Now we are fighting them. We give freedom fighters in Libya money and weapons and it turns out they aren't the nicest people. Our "aid" often aids our enemies.

Premise of my thread mistaken - what? Its not a premise its a fact backed opinion! In 2012 I don't give a chickens patooty about funding dictators and those who NEVER give America ANY help I care about my country and our needs. IF we can continue to send hundreds of billions out of the country we can darn sure start spending poverty, homelessness and hunger into oblivion here! IF we don't a 1776 re-run is not only a strong possibility its a duty.!

Your premise is wrong America spends a whole lot more the 1.5 billion on poverty programs. America spends 61B on Medicaid (health care for the poor) alone (http://www.kff.org/medicaid/upload/7901.pdf). That is about 40 times what you claim the budget for poverty related programs is.

Other anti-poverty programs alone also cost several times the 1.47b you claim is spent on poverty programs. These include...Tanf (welfare) which is funded to the tune of 5b a year)(Approved TANF Emergency Fund Applications by Category),
The housing choice voucher program (section 8) 17b a year (House Appropriations Subcommittee Passes HUD Funding Bill, Slashes HOME Funding | NCSHA),
and SNAP (food stamps) at 64billion a year (States Hungry for Revenue Leave Billions in Food Aid on Table - Businessweek)

Simply put your premise is wrong.

Psssst....read the article and the HUD budget and the OP subject (homeless related) Am I to take from your attack on my OP that you do not think homeless and those in need deserve help? Do you hold ill feelings towards 1.2 million helpless/homeless children, do you have a problem with trying to help American Vets who are homeless and hungry? Are we to assume you think Russians need "Aid" more than Americans??? Thats what many who read your posts are going to assume..........BTW are you a (R)?
