A family business dispute is said to have driven a Jewish man to make anti-Semitic hate calls to elderly women - including his mother - and paint swastikas on their doors.
David Haddad, 56, of Manhattan, New York, was arrested yesterday and charged with aggravated assault as a hate crime.
Haddad allegedly snarled down the phone: 'All Jews should die and go to hell,' when he called his mother, 80, on December 11.
He is also suspected of scrawling swastikas in a heavily Orthodox Brooklyn neighbourhood.
If someone is anti-Jewish, the first thing you need to do is find out if they are Jewish. They frequently use the external "threat" to promote their own unity and to prevent assimilation. Its nothing new. We seem to have a pretty healthy regard for the idea of Christian and Islamic lunatics, but through misplaced and contrived feeling of guilt forgot about the Jewish ones. It is amusing to see this backfiring on Jews themselves. That is what an over developed sense of tribalism does for you.
Christianity is not much different. The old story of Christians to the lions is another case of an over active imagination. Pagan Rome was quite gentile compared to the internecine conflicts like Orthodoxy and Arianism. In Islam its the Sunnis blowing up the Shiites.

But this guy isn't anti-jewish...he was just trying to make life suck for some people that got on his bad side. Just your run of the mill scumbag whom if the business dealing had been with gays, blacks, muslims or whatever that would have dictated his path of revenge and intimidation.
Oh well, off to jail with the idiot.
P.S. It's sad how often fake incidents like this happen either to generate sympathy, cover something up and so on and so forth. The most famous case I can think of being the Tawana Brawley case of Al Sharpton infamy.
What's the point of this thread? Are you trying to imply that hate crimes & anti-Semitism/racism aren't real concerns in this country (and around the world)? If so, you are either in denial or extremely ignorant.

I think the lesson that should be learned from this, if individually we're not already aware of it, is that we shouldn't rush to judgment and make assumptions as to the motivations behind certain events which at first are said or the impression is given are racially/religiously/culturally motivated. It's a good reminder, for us all.

Yes, they are a real concern, including the back handed implied demonetization on non-Jews as if demon possessed evil gentiles are always trying to kill Jews( we can thank the religious right for this slander) . The United States has been a safe haven for Jews. Lets keep it that way. It is not a real concern in this country and it will not be if everyone does their part not to race bait and perpetuate these myths. The Middle East was a safe haven for a 1000 years. All it took was a generation to destroy it by coming in as an invading force. That is what wrong with those "other areas".

Well said.
Sadly, hoax hate crimes are a growing problem (http://amren.com/oldnews/archives/hate_crime_hoaxes/ - broken link), and they are unreported in the media. After the initial extreme reactions of "Omg it's racism let's have a community march" once the truth of the matter is discovered the media quietly drops the issue and pretends it never happened, thereby never correcting the growing liberal media myth that conservative, religious, white people are the sole racists in this country.
Fake hate crimes are far more detrimental to society especially when the divisive, race-baiting Leftists in the media spearhead the news that we read every day.
The formula used here is neither new nor old. In fact, it happens within the institution we call government as well. Anti-government folks want to get elected, to be the government, to make their point and prove that they were right all along! That is no different that this.
