Gallup poll: Immigration issue roils voters (illegal, polls, Obama, independent)

The majority of Americans say they are dissatisfied with the level of immigration into the country, and more than four out of 10 of those concerned about the issue say they want to see fewer foreigners entering the U.S., according to a Gallup Poll out Tuesday....The Gallup Poll suggested that Republicans tend to be more concerned about immigration levels than Democrats and independents

This is not surprising. Most Americans want fewer foreigners.

We immigrate and accept more foreigners than any country in the world.
Dems should take a look at this poll if they want to get re elected.

Because what the government says is in total contrast to what the government does.
That's what riles me. They say they are enforcing immigration rules yet just look at what goes on in education and medical with regards to that.
What we have is stealth amnesty going on.

I don't know. Democrats have been strongly in favor of amnesty for some time now and we all know that the more illegal immigrants they get put on that fast track to citizenship the more voters they will have.

Now maybe for 2012 they need to look at this poll but most of them are really looking beyond that one since they all think they will ride on the coattails of Obama.

I agree. They say the are enforcing the law when in fact they are not.

Also included in the poll is that we should cut down on legal immigration.

As always, I remain in love with polls that throw percentages around like manhole covers...but bury the key statistic so deep in the article, hardly anyone pays attention to it.

In the present case, Gallup surveyed 1,011 people. (How they come up with odd numbers like that fascinates me). That's one thousand and eleven people in a nation of more than 300 million. Anyone who wants to believe that the results of that poll actually say anything meaningful is welcome to do so.

Democrats turn a blind eye to immigration issues because they want the votes.
Republicans ignore the problem because they want the cheap labor.

Both parties are guilty of abusing immigrants for their own desires.

Just a quick note, the poll is about immigration in general, not just "illegal immigration"
