Not the coolest or the brightest move on the teacher's part. I don't know if I would summarily boot the teacher out, but I would make a stern lecture touching on common sense and other realities.

LOL, supposedly the teachers at that school were trying to combine math with social studies. Does Georgia just let anyone who can afford the fee to get a teaching certificate?

I would fire those teachers. Ignorance like that is not to be tolerated in public schools. Too many people smarter than them who desperately want full-time teaching jobs.
