A couple in Paducah, KY embezzled over $200,000 from a local convention center. The state dropped the charges against them so the fed's could take over the case. Their penalty? Up to 10 years and a fine of...get this...$250!!! West Kentucky Star - Featured News (http://www.westkentuckystar.com/Featured-News/State-Charges-Dropped-against-Kerr--Wilson - broken link)

25 miles down the road in Graves County, KY, they keep arresting the Amish men that refuse to put on the orange triangles on the back of their buggies. They keep getting fined and after they refuse to pay the fines, they get arrested. This has been happening for over a year now. Lawyer says jailing of Graves Co. Amish was 'unnecessary' | WPSD Local 6 - News, Sports, Weather - Paducah KY | Local

To me, it sounds like the better deal would be the people that stole over $200K and will only have to pay back $250. They could have stolen the money, shipped it overseas to a bank, gained interest for the next ten years (if they get that long) and come out with a pretty penny. The Amish men have probably been fined OVER $250 and the state keeps spending money arresting them, keeping them in jail, etc. Both cases are guilty of breaking the law, but really, which group is getting the worst hand?

Considering the embezzlers are getting 10 years in prison, who cares about the difference in the fine amounts?

[the Amish guys only got 3 to 13 days in jail - big deal!]

They should be jailed for those haircuts.

What? Doesn't anyone have faith in the criminal justice industry?
