Ron Paul makes a good point. Why do we have so many military bases around the world in stable places like Germany, japan, Italy, Spain, Brazil, and Greece?
Europe and South America are peaceful continents that have not had a serious conflict in many, many years. Why do we need to have 5 permanent military bases in Europe in this day and age?
Times have changed, I think the United states should adapt and realize the world is a lot safer place then it used to be during the cold war and having such a large military during peace time is not a smart policy

With our allies if disaster/war happens and that country needs help, our air force jets could travel there very fast, is that correct or not, I do not know about speed & distance of our armed forces jets.
