Yeah, bunch of saber rattling idiots protecting the US. But lets go to Somalia b/c the liberals feel that's a war worth fighting. Let's negotiate with the Taliban...until something else happens in the US?

You can't have it both ways.
Somalia?

Uh...H.W. Bush started that little conflict, or don't you remember?

And the Taliban have every right to be Taliban in Afghanistan. It's their country. The Taliban isn't responsible for any attacks on the U.S...and certainly not 9/11.

So, you know...

The Germans are proud and have class. Two things that are rare here.

Germans aren't far removed from being a country that had to rebuild extensively after two world wars. I would imagine this had a profound effect on those who remained there. With the hard work that was required to rebuild came respect for what you had in life.

Modern day Americans don't understand this because most everything has been given to them without any sacrifice. A 40 hour work week that doesn't include Facebook and texting is torture and punishment here.

I agree with you to some degree.

Bingo. I have worked at two companies where I had a few German born coworkers. Very organized, on the ball, and efficient.

We had a situtaion where no one could seem to straighten out a certain problem, and a German woman said "I vill(will) get to the bottom of this"....LOL.

And she did!

The Germans also don't tolerate illegals, let alone subsidize them. They have very strict immigration laws. Unless our leaders theirs actually care more about their society's middle class rather than pandering to low skilled foreign nationals and greedy business interests. A shame really. We rescued them only to have our own pols sell us out to foreigners.

America's military-industrial complex is doing a great job for itself.
The American public is fed plenty of BS about terror threats, which the public eats up eagerly as they tremble with red, white, and blue paranoia. The patriotic idiots are always eager to go to war, but have little interest to improve anything in America. The Germans worked together to improve things in their country. That took decades, now they are doing well.
Americans define the word 'stupidity'.
Only those with their heads up their patriotic butts can believe that America is the greatest nation. You're a joke. Plenty of muscles with a small brain.

So who's paying for all that free stuff, the German rich?

"The couple, in their early 50s, aren't retired or well off. They live in a small Tudor-style house in this middle-class town about 30 miles northwest of Frankfurt. He's a foreman at a glass factory; she works part time for a company that tracks inventories for retailers. Their combined income is a modest $40,000. Yet the Krugers have a higher standard of living than many Americans whose incomes are twice as high."

"Germany with its manufacturing base and export prowess is the U.S. of yesteryear, an economic power unlike any of its European neighbors. As the world's fourth-largest economy, it has thrived on principles that America seems gradually to have lost."
Capitalism in the U.S. is extreme wealth for those at the very top, with the other 95% scrambling for the scraps. The wealthy in the U.S. have found out they can increase their wealth by moving their manufacturing base overseas. They also have convinced poor white trash that the only reason these corporations have moved overseas is because of high taxes and excessive regulations. Many corporations in effect pay NO taxes, some even get millions in tax rebates. "Regulations" in the U.S. have always been a joke, as the U.S. is the worlds worst polluter, and the EPA is toothless. "Regulations" is Republican campaign talk, a rallying cry for a clueless base.

Do you think your average German would want to follow the U.S. model?

Only if they suffer from mental illness, all the rest of them would laugh in your face if asked that question.

I'm talking 2012, not 1900-something. Libs are still screaming for the US to "help" their little humanitarian "causes" all over the globe. With no thought involved. Rally up the troops b/c US liberals have an agenda, and it's always a BETTER agenda if the libs stand behind it.

Then maybe you should tell Oprah and the rest of the Human Rights Org. that little glimmer of common sense. And after you do that, you should pull your head out of the sand and realize that the Taliban ain't just some little social group just lopping off the heads of women for a good reason. Maybe it's for fun and the kind of fun they like. So mind your own business. At the same time, I do agree with you. Let the Taliban and the crazy warlords in ME 5th world countries wreak their havoc on their own. No one needs to care or get involved.

Walmart also pulled out of Germany. After 9 years of being unable to convince the average German that they were the place to shop, they sold off their stores.

Shortly after its arrival in Germany, Wal-Mart faced accusations that it was using short-term predatory pricing to put small shopkeepers out of business. Regulators ordered it to raise the price of basic foods such as milk, flour and butter.

Of course they got away with it here.
