I think it would sound damn silly to anyone capable of thinking. Just what is it that makes you believe anyone who doesn't believe in a higher power necessarily thinks it OK to usurp the human rights of others?

Your illogic seems clearly spelled out in the way you mention those who have won a general election and and China/North Korea in the same electronic breath. Just WHAT do general elections have to do with China/North Korea?

Actually, the poster you were responding to brings to light the very reason that men wrote the Bible. To keep ignorant humans in line...so to speak. Superstition and Mythology are powerful tools to reign in the masses.

I personally put much more stock in "The Chariot of The Gods" school of thought.

Is there really any point in responding to such a stupid post?

Nobody, including President Obama, believes in "an all powerful federal government".

For instance, President Obama does not believe that the federal government should have the power to prohibit women from getting abortions or contraceptives, whereas many conservatives, including at least one Republican presidential candidate, do.

I have yet to hear a sensible argument from those who believe morality/ethics are somehow dependent on belief in a higher power.

There are no "unalienable" rights. There are only legal rights.

This.
Thank you.
The Christian persecution complex is wearing thin.

The surest (and quickest) way to lose our religious freedom is to make Jesus lord of us all.

You're right. It does sound silly. Contrary to what you seem to believe, morality and religion are not mutually inclusive.

Couple of clues for ya:
GOD does not mean the Christian GOD, and for your infrmation the GOD of Abraham is the same GOD that Muslims, Christians and Jews all worship.
There is a seperation of church and state in this Nation, want your children to worship at school send them to a private school, the state funded schools cannot place one religion above others and by having Christian prayers said in school they would be. Oh and do not forget some people do not believe and they do not want ther children taught any beliefs by the schools, as is their Right.
Children can still pray in school, there is apsolutely no rule against it and so long as there are tests there will be prayer, they just cannot be sponsered or lead by school officials.
Hope that clears up your misconceptions.
