we dont have to cut benefits to cut social spending. what we DO need to do is cut the bureaucracy and streamline much of government. if after that happens, and we still spend too much, then lets talk about cutting certain benefits, such as paying children the social security benefits of their parents should one of them meet an untimely demise. and how about eliminating the waste and fraud in medicare and medicaid, as well as welfare.
