No, I'm suggesting that if it was you or me being held hostage, we'd still be there.
Even if the US military doesn't send armed soldiers to rescue all ordinary Americans in foreign hostage situations, the State Department does expend time and effort trying to secure their release.
The diplomatic approach would not be so feasible with pirates in Somalia, however.
Wipe your eyes. Eventually, a military operation is going to go FUBAR, and you & yours will get to crow about "amateur hour in the White House" or somesuch.
