Of course the left is not a "spiritual" movement, it is a secular movement based on logic, reason, and social science. That's not to say that people of various faiths and none do not participate; there are plenty of religious (yes, even Christian) leftists. Although I happen to be an atheist, I respect those who have different views.

Secondly, you can't lump "the left" into one category anymore than you can lump "the right" into one category. For instance, fiscally conservative Republicans are nothing like the Nazi Party, just like democratic socialists are nothing like Stalinists. There are many vastly different forms of leftism, and most leftists want justice (economic equality) for all, not to take the place of the rich. Social democracy has worked before, for example, look at Sweden during the 1970s and the 1980s. The Soviet Union would have worked if not for the totalitarian, repressive nature of its government. A new socialist order would be excellent for 99% of the world's people, the only ones who wouldn't benefit are the richest 1%.
