You failed Reading Comprehension 101. You ignored the rest of his sentence, but with people who offer the broad spectrum of opinion.
Let me explain what he meant by that: A "broad spectrum of opinion" means people who don't always necessarily agree with what you are saying.
I hope I was able to phrase that so you understand. Just read it very slowly.
Can we possibly get a few wingnuts on this forum who can read? That's all I ask.
Ok, since you weighed in with idiocy, let me spell it out for you, since you felt the need to call me out, shall we?

A good leader surrounds himself not only with yes men, but with people who offer the broad spectrum of opinion.
Funny that you'd bring in "reading comprehension" to the conversation. Do you happen to know what "not only" and "but" means in the context of this sentence?
LOL
Let me tell you.
The OP says that a "good leader" surrounds himself with "yes men" AND "a broad spectrum of opinion."
Two parts to that sentence Danny. The assertion is that a good leader surrounds himself with "yes men"....which is exactly opposite of what a good leader should be. Any good leader will tell you that. Had he said only that a "good leader" surrounds himself with a "broad spectrum of opinion," I would have agreed. But he didn't, so I don't.
Go back to bed. Please.

Only ONE of Obama's advisers had the balls to recommend an attack on bin Laden? He needs to pick advisors that think more about the country and it's people than their own careers. Makes it even more amazing that he gave the go-ahead.

That story came out immediately after Bennie went swimming with the fishes.
Cowardly obama wouldn't make the decidion for several days, until Leon Panetta finally made the decision fo him.
The one thing obama gets credit for, he had nothing to do with...
He was hiding under his wife's enormous skirt...

The Obama marginalists wouldn't give Obama credit if he pulled the trigger himself.

Reading comprehension 101 tells me that ALL leaders have "yes men" around them, whether they CHOOSE them or not. You can call them YES MEN or you can say they SHARE YOUR VISION, but with some people, they only understand literal interpretations.
That would be you.
