OK. So, its a done deal. It took just a little bit of leadership from the white house to get it done. I know these bills have floated around for years, and they never went anywhere.
For now, it still has to go through the house and who knows if the teabaggers will shoot it down, earmark it, alter it making it completely useless etc,..
Exactly. So how does this bill do anything? It doesn't. It's election year politicking. A worthless feather among the other worthless feathers in the We Regulate Ourselves™ cap that Congress has the privilege of wearing.
We would need an outside agency to monitor this, not the crooks who write the laws.
Well, lets start a betting pool. Because it's America attempting to sensibly defend itself, it either won't pass, or republicans will go very far out of their way to butcher the context so horribly it promotes insider trading and installs Tony Soprano as the new Pope of America.
How far is this insanity going to go before high treason charges start getting pressed? I'm just sayin...
Yeah, cuz only republicans are guilty of insider trading, the poor, honest, guilt-free democrats have been tirelessly trying to put a halt to insider trading for decades.
Another bill I like, this one is from a republican: OSTA - One Subject at a Time Act (http://www.sacbee.com/2012/01/31/4227626/rep-marino-introduces-downsizedcorgs.html - broken link)

It deserves its own thread, however.
Yep, there is some common ground and when there is I am on board. I always hated riders being a part of a bill and thought it was BS wimp legislating no matter which of the parties that were responsible.
