57 out of 59 democrats voted to keep the pork
If we are going to reduce gov't spending this bill must get passed. It is not just the cost of the earmarks, but the fact that the earmarks are included to get support to pass tons of costly spending bills that would otherwise fail.

Politicians will not easily surrender the pork. They need to keep their constituents well bribed enough that they can be reelected.

I despise the bulk of politicians and am convinced our political system has become far too badly broken to be readily repaired. We, as a nation. made a serious mistake when we allowed politicians to pervert politics into a career path.
