A Chevrolet Suburban carrying the three brothers was traveling east on Baseline Avenue in Fontana on Sunday when it ran the red light and sheared the back off a Honda sedan carrying a 40-year-old Fontana woman and her 11-year-old son, said Sgt. Billy Green of the Fontana Police Department.
...Police found beer cans and firearms in the Suburban SUV, Green said.
I have to pass through a rather busy intersection to get to the grocery store from my house and just last week I counted SIX cars that ran the red light to turn left while the people trying to cross (ya know, the ones with a green light) crept forward waiting to go.
I always wait a minimum of '3 mississippis' after the light turns green to cross at certain intersections in my town because it's so common for people to blatantly run red lights. People honk and get pissed sure....but I've avoided quite a few accidents that way.
It's a familiar scene that repeats itself worldwide every day, America is not unique...
Yes, but much more so in car-crazy North America. Every suburban street might as well be a freeway. Its like everyone is in a Daytona 500 race to get to the next stop light. Best to always say a prayer before starting your car.
Learn and use the Smith system of defensive driving...
