However, starting last year the Mexican Government now will license "gun clubs" to "practice" and carry out "firearms safety seminars"...i.e....tactical training within these clubs. They are allowed to posses and train with semi-auto heavy weapons and handguns such as the FNP-45 and Glock. Most of these "gun club members" conveniently always seem to be carry the weapons to-and-from the club.

The downside...you must register and get fingerprinted to/by the government your firearms and where they're kept, who lives in the house and the names of all people in the home. You also have to surrender them on demand. The cartels...have infiltrated the local government(s) and now have that information, as well as contact information for family members.
THAT is spooky.

I have a very good friend who has been going to Tx every fall for years...he is a preacher and schedules Churches in Mexico to preach at all winter(usually in Juarez)...he says he has watched it get progressively worse year by year and the last two to three years it has became just a war zone.

He has had his life threatened more than a few times, but he says that that is what he's supposed to be doing and he keeps going back...he's there right now.

You're right about Juarez and it just got worse. Might want to pass this on to your friend.

2500 police ordered to leave their homes because the cartel is killing one cop per day unitl the Mayor resigns. They've killed 5 cops so far.

Could you imagine that ever happening in the US ? The cartel is that organized and dangerous that 2500 police cannot go home now.

All Juarez police ordered to leave their homes after 5 are slain (http://www.statesman.com/news/world/all-juarez-police-ordered-to-leave-their-homes-2142227.html?cxtype=rss_news - broken link)

If only the US would quit buying the drugs (and supplying the guns) that make the cartels so powerful.

Wow!...I just called and left a vm for him and hopefully he will check back in tonight and let me know how he's doing and what's going on.

The last year or so he leaves his wife in a campground and he crosses by himself or with a few other preachers who also leave their wives on the U.S. side.

He's a super nice guy and a really tough old bird, but there are limits.
