"Conservatives" apply the same obliviousness to basic mathematics to federal and state spending, as well. How many times have we all heard the line that we don't have a revenue problem, we have a spending problem? Fact is, we could cut spending and still have a revenue problem.

Does this same "logic" apply to poor people? They don't have a revenue problem, they have a spending problem. Perhaps they should cut out meals and live in a cardboard box so they can get their spending problems under control.

Huh? The ivy's have billions in endowments. Are you suggesting they're strapped for cash?

And the people let this happen. People have a greater control over education than they do over corporations. They have the opportunity to make schools fight over them and the choice where to go. Yet people support this process where they'll go in debt via government loans while the schools rake in the $$.

There is a fascinating disconnect here. The left goes wild over increasing healthcare costs, and they blame insurance companies. However they seem to hold Univerities blameless for the exact same issue. What the left doesn't get is, the problem both industries share is, no one pays for their respective services out of heir pockets causing a disconnect between the consumer and the provider.

All three: Universities, Students, and Gov't are at fault.

But it's only some Universities and some students. Frankly, I don't care much because you gotta be pretty stupid to take on serious debt for college anyways. I suppose you can turn that around to some Universities taking advantage of stupid students.

REALITY <> HOUSES OF HIGHER EDUCATION
Yes -- and it's no secret that a large number of professors and other ridiculously high paid university employees could never make it out in the "real world". Many have never set foot outside campus but it's time they start living a little in the real world and like the rest of us, do some austerity.

?? tuition is HIGHER right??

Here is an idea that will work better.

Do a 2+2 degree. Sorry if you lose out on 2 years of partying but do the first 2 at community college @ roughly 20 to 25% of the cost.
Give up 2 years of partying?? Oh the horror!

The fact is, the education for the core curriculum can be easily had at a community college and the student would save many thousands of dollars living at home and working at least part time. But yes, fewer parties.

Very often the education for those core curriculum classes is at least as good as at the university if not better. And so much more affordable.

I notice that the university students are never complaining about how ridiculously expensive it's become to go see some pop star concert. $200 for a Lady Gaga ticket and they'll fill the seats, not a single whine.

I was just reading this international study of tuition, loans, grants etc.
http://higheredstrategy.com/wp-conte...03/YIR2012.pdf

One thing was funny, I wonder if it is correct. It says that in Scotland Scottish and EU students don't have to pay tuition fees, but students from other parts of the UK do have to pay such fees in Scotland

The 'free-market' will decide if you are worthy of ever being able to find a job and be able pay off the ridiculous amount of money you owe to said college for said worthless degree.

So you don't fall into the scam, well its your fault for not getting a degree because the 'free market' will decide who should and shouldn't get hired. Meanwhile, these scum corporations go crying to congress that they cannot find any Americans to fill their openings so they need exemptions to established laws meant to protect AMERICANS! Meanwhile CEO, CFO, COOOO, board of directors, etc., of said corporation continue to see their salaries skyrocket year after year...The company is doing horrible but of course none of it is their fault!

Only Republicans can spout this nonsense and actually believe it. Yeah I know, all you talk-radiots, before you even waste your time, its 'free market capitalism'!
Its all someone else fault like most demcocrats alway believe for failure from choosing to results. They always point out sucessful people as examles of why they fail. Its kind of sdtrange and wears thin. Why not just do the same. loked at the markets lately oir number of these CEO being replaced?Has nothig do do with personal failure asthey see themselves. Excuse as always.
