I was just listening to the news and at least one town is looking forward to the potential revenue that legal, same sex marriage could bring.
Vancouver, which is just across the Columbia River from Portland, and literally minutes from PDX, is looking forward to the possibility of a lot of out of state couples flying into Portland and crossing the river into Washington to marry.
The city (or county) official who was interviewed was saying that they're hoping that the couples coming to get married will "stay awhile" (spend money), and visit the area (spend money).
Kind of an interesting persective. I wonder if there will be an all-out ad campaign to invite the couples to come to Clark County/Vancouver, Washington to get married.
I could recommend a charming little wedding chapel (if it's still there).

It's already started. A friend who works for a local winery is already working on the next ad campaign targeted towards gay couples.
Washington becomes more appealing by the moment. Congrats to them! While I'm a proponent of privatizing marriage, as long as we're doing it - it must be allowed for all.
That isn't what the op indicated. I'm getting mixed messages from liberals........again.
The only potential hurdle was the State Senate. Its been known by some time that it has many more than the votes needed to pass the State House and it is supported by the Gov. So while technically it isn't official yet it will be.
Washington State joins the list of states who have legalized Gay Marriage. I commend Washington for joining the ranks of those who abide by equal rights and the constitution.
Too bad they don't let the voters decide. In EVERY SINGLE STATE where it has been put to a vote, gay marriage is defeated.
People have no business voting on civil rights of others, anyway. So, tough s***.
