Million Moms want JC Penney to fire Ellen Degeneris because she's gay, and most of JC Penney's customers are traditional families....really?

Is there a test required to get into the store?

Just goes to show that stupid is as stupid does.

Group Demands That J.C. Penney Fire Ellen Because She’s Gay | XFINITY TV Blog by Comcast

One Million Moms — a project of the American Family Association — is very angry at J.C. Penney.

No, not because it sells sweater vests (heck, Rick Santorum is a fan of those), but because the Texas-based department store has hired Ellen DeGeneres as a spokeswoman.

And DeGeneres is — cue the scary music — gay, and open about it.

Why is it that every Christian organization with the word "Family" in it tend to become hate-spewing fountains of bigotry? Must be money in it.

I hear you on that one, self proclaimed Christians apparantly don't practice what they preach.

I don't know, but it seems to be true. Part of the reason for my conversion from the right. I finally looked around and realized the hate and intolerance underlying the good "Christian" rhetoric. The right as a whole tend to be the least Christian of all.

I suppose they also want her TV show cancelled. But it would certainly be fascinating to delve into the lives of the people Million Moms gives the "OK" to. I'll bet there are some nice, juicy scandals lurking around there!

Mob rule at its best. They're selectively targeting businesses to impose their whims.

In contemporary American politics, "family values" is known as a "code word" - something that disguises more hateful aspects of an agenda as something nice and innocent. By using a code word that is carefully chosen, a politician (or person) can say they are "for family values" and sound as all-American as apple pie, but what they mean is that they intend to promote this particular narrow (and offensive to many) agenda. Their opponent is stuck in a foolish tangle of phraseology - how can they say they are against "family values"?
