I don't need to click "like" or "dislike" on other websites. FB was a wonderful tool. Sure did do a lot of networking with it. Been there, milked it for all it was worth, promoted my fav. 501c and saved a ton of family photos, and had a blast.

Facebook and other social networking sites don't exist for the betterment of mankind, they exist because they are data goldmines. The more somebody knows about you, the easier it is to sell you something.

It should be obvious to everyone what the goal is here:

Complain about your cold on facebook? Maybe tell the world that you are brushing your teeth, or that you are looking at getting a new car?

Suddenly, everything you look at online has advertisements for Nyquil, Colgate and Honda flashing at you all around whatever you are trying to read or watch. Adds show up in you mailbox, solicitors call and so forth. Meanwhile, the collectors and disseminators of that information have collected a fee from advertisers...times that by a few million and it ends up being worth a pretty penny.

I'm not on Facebook. So far I don't seem to be missing much in my life, either.
