Like in 1996?

Since President Obama is now successfully turning around the Great Bush Depression, do you think the GOP will try to run against abortion, gay rights, Obama's so-called "War on Religion", and the "evils" of birth control, since they totally lack credibility on the economy?

I think the latest controversy over contraceptive and Rick Santorum's wins suggest this is where the race is going...

This is EXACTLY what's happening. They've been lying in wait to drop the culture war references for a while, but they couldn't because Obama is generally infallible on the issues. He's married, faithfully so, Christian, anti-gay marriage (unfortunately), and on down the line. About all they have is Abortion, and they've gotta tread lightly on that one.

So the economy is improving slightly, which moves the goalposts on that topic a bit (but still in the Republicans favor IMO). This Catholic Church thing is manna from heaven....which is why they're beating it to death.

But when examined, it's the dumbest controversy ever dreamed up. It doesn't hold up. Catholics that were already predisposed to voting for a Republican are making hay over nothing. But they think they'll snatch some votes from him. We'll see.

9 outta 10 Catholic women use contraception according to a poll i heard about. So this whole matter is a joke.

The economy has only stabilized, it's not improving even enough to account for population growth. Republicans will be making a huge mistake if they try to run a "family values" campaign at a time when so many are still unemployed and those lucky enough to have work are struggling just to scrape by.

I have a feeling it's more like a war of the people of the 21st century against those who still live (or want to live) in the 19th century.

If everything negative that happens in Obama's presidency is Bush's fault, isn't everything positive also?

I was thinking the same thing this morning - their plans for "it's the economy, stupid!" are going awry, so it's back to standard operating procedure for the GOP: abortion, gays, religion, and similar "family values" versus "heathen liberals" issues.

Barack hasn't turned around anything. HIS POLICIES are the reason the depression that ended in 2009 has not taken hold and the economy skyrocketed like it does after every other recession.

People are still unemployed. By the millions. They disagree with your profession that the economy is getting better. It's a numbers game to Washington Bureaucrats and political pundits. To everyday American's it's real, and it's tough out there.

Gays? Don't care. Abortion? Doesn't matter. Money in the Bank? Don't have.

Which one of those three things do you think American's are really worried about?

When will Liberals understand this? Even your other master, William J. Clinton understood it. Why don't you?

So called "christians" that want to hold hostage, every American ( regardless of their personal views) to "their own" perceived principles, have been running a social war on the rest of us for the last 4 years. This isn't new, its just that we've all had that hideous economy on our minds, those horrible wars, Osama bin Laden and Al Queda and terroism. We've worried about jobs, public education, health care problems. You know REAL PROBLEMS! Not social issues that are none of their business in ANY MANNER. Most Americans have had their minds filled with important American issues and we've allowed a bunch of pretend christians to evangelicalize and dictate to the rest of us how we are going to live our lives. Its time to SMASH this movement to smithereens. Sound a loud call for real Christians, as well as to the host of other beliefs that make America great ....to ignore, abhore and deplore these latter day right wing evangelical rantings. We are modern day Americans living in a new century, we believe in the freedom of every American to live their life as they see fit. God, the Great Spirit, Allah, Mohammed and every other name you follow (or not) is determined by each individual American in this great country. YOU don't get to choose for ME. I don't get to choose for YOU. That is what our founders really wanted, that is what we will be voting on next November.
