Of course it is a tax, anything they cannot offer a defense for, is defended by "it's a tax".

The point is conservative women (even those few who work for a Catholic organization) are economically better off paying for birth control than paying higher taxes.

The law is a violation of seperation of church and state. Liberals used to favor maintaining this wall of seperation. To force a group to participate in sin is a gross violation of the 1st Amendment, Do you believe concientious objectors should be forced to go to war?

LOL, what mental gymnastics! The reflex response of the RWs to anything that benefits people in general is, "don't raise my taxes". Not to mention, what tax increase are you talking about? There is no tradeoff being proposed, e.g. "you pay for birth control and it will reduce your taxes by an equivalent amount".

No, there is not. Our politicians no longer finance the expenditures they approve. In this case the conservative women may benefit a few bucks a month from having "free" birth control. However, if they are truly conservative, the tradeoff in voting for Obama is more government programs that sooner are later are going to be paid in taxes or fees of some kind. No truly conservative woman is going to vote for Obama because she gets "free" birth control pills.

Do you believe the 1st Amendment should be defended?

No one who values the 1st Amendment should support Obama's position here, be they liberal or conservative.

Personally, I believe preventing bastards from being born is a good thing. It may well make sense economically to provide "free" birth control. However, it is a gross violation of individual liberty and our Constitution.

Traditional Catholics have rights too.

People usually do what's best for themselves, when push comes to shove. Just ask a few cons here about having their adult kids on their own insurance policies.

Just a quick question here. Whose insurance does not cover birth control?

Yes, and most conservative women ain't voting for Obama just because there is a 9 buck a month program he makes them eligible for.

There is a difference between voting for a policy and accepting the benefits and liabilities of such a policy.
