I agree on your first point and your last, but I'm not sure that saying "we don't want to pay for your condoms or IUD's or method of choice equals declaring war on women." They haven't been paying for that stuff up until now anyway. By the way, they aren't paying for it for men either.

Obama has once again shown he IS the adult in the room and listens, this is why he is a far better President than ANY of the Nominees in the GOP at the moment ......... Even the Republican voters can't decide which one is worse.
Obama kicked this out of the way. He was smart enough to know that it is just another desperate attempt to inject a wedge issue into the race for the Presidency. He will take each nonsense and non-issue issue that the GOP hypocrites throw at him and do the same with those. They are left with egg on their face while he prepares for another four in The Oval Office. Obama did not "cave" OP...he strategized.

Not sure how it's not caving. I may not have all the facts, but didn't he pretty much just go with what the opponents wanted?

Not on the national level like it is now

We're talking about employees in schools, hospitals and universities -- not the church.
Oddly enough it's also the argument that virtually every single liberal used to defend Vanderbilt's policy to remove the religious freedom of association clause from its student handbook. "If you don't like it, just make a Christian club outside the school"

Funny how it suddenly becomes a valid argument once it works against religion rather than for it.

I also notice you say "we're talking about employees in schools, hospitals, and universities" without mentioning the facilities are owned and operated by the Church. They are Church organizations. There is a difference between an organization owned by a Catholic, and a Catholic organization.

People of other religions are also outraged and view this as the government overstepping its bounds.
<sigh> Polls have indicated (and I've linked to them multiple times and been roundly ignored thusfar) that 58% of Catholics currently agree with Obama on this issue.

Thus I can VERY intelligently state that it stands to reason that a mere 54% of Catholics who voted for him in '08 just might be included among that number...

I can also VERY intelligently state that the 62% of Evangelical Protestants who disagree with Obama on this likely did NOT vote for him in '08, which if you'd read my entire post you could tell that I was very much referring to them as well, not just Catholics.

Funny that it was their idea in the first place...

You think everyone having to pay for other peoples birth control and viagra help insurance costs?

The ONLY people who should have to pay for birth control are the people that use them. NOT insurance companies nor anyone else!!!

But don't you pay for health insurance? Did you notice that their premiums are constantly going up and they are covering fewer and fewer things? As much I pay for health insurance I want them to pay for damn near everything including toenail/fingernail transplants

Birth control pills are a hormone with various medical applications. Whatever the need for them people should hope their medical Dr and medical insurance makes it available to them. Of course there are back door ways of getting things now, always have been, but the GAMES shouldn't have to be played because of religion. That makes all religion look stupid.

1) I don't know the Vanderbuilt College situation to speak on it.
2) Yes, schools, the hospitals, and universities in question are owned by the church. That doesn't take them under the blanket of religious organizations. They are indirect businesses. If the church happened to purchase all of IBM's stock, that wouldn't make IBM a religious organization. The vale of the church does not extend beyond the church itself.
