You cannot assume that birth control is taken purely for the prevention of pregnancy.

There are plenty of women who do not have sex that are on BC, and plenty of married women that are on BC in order to control menstrual discomfort, and by discomfort I mean not being able to get out of bed or leave the house for 3 or so days a week. Some women have periods twice or more a month. The decision to take BC goes beyond one's desire for "pleasure".

They should not have to justify why they need birth control. Sometimes it's more complicated than going into the 7/11 for a pack of condoms.
why is it called birth control! if it is not birth control. why not have king Obama proclaim a different name for the same drug. to dispense to women that need it for something else!!

It's not healthecare people its a fun fun pill.
How many times does it need to be repeated for the penis holders out there that HORMONAL BIRTH CONTROL is not always about preventing pregnancy?!!?!?!?!?

It can prevent CANCERS, stop excessive bleeding, as well as other issues. The four women in yourr house SHOULD know that!

Yeah, cause finding work in this economy is soooooo easy.

What position of entitlement? The position that I want to be able to not bleed for 270+ days a year, and what to be a productive member of the workforce, and by taking BC pills that could be a possibility? Silly me, I forgot that is me being "entitled" again right?

Can you say the same about insulin or high blood pressure meds?

Not every woman can take BC pills, some have to have a low dose, or an alternative form of hormonal BC.

Again, pregnancy prevention is not the ONLY reason for a woman to take BC.

Then people who have high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholosteral(sp), blocked arteries, cancer, AIDS, and any other health condition should have to foot the bill too by YOUR logic, since they caused their own problems, they should be forced to pay for their actions right?

Why is this even coming up when the economy is so damn bad? Why are the politicians fighting over BC like kids fighting over candy? Someone fill me in...

This proposed amendment is a 'Get Home Free" card for any employer providing health insurance. It will not take all business managers very long to create a reason to not pay for insurance that covers ANY expensive treatments as well as contraceptives. Eventually the only problem covered will be erectile dysfunction because that generally affects the executive age men. Reducing the competition for executive jobs is another important factor. This is a way of forcing women out of the executive workforce and imprisoning them in the house with children.

This is being considered because the Republicans cannot argue on the continuously improving economy so they bring up irrelevant social issues to keep the RWA’s energized.

I don't put a little rubber thingy on my John Thomas and I shouldn't have to be forced to pay higher health care costs just because others have this bizarre belief that everyone on Planet Earth is supposed to fund their life-style.

Banning...

Oh, how these men loathe the idea of women having sex and being able to control reproduction (or not).
Chiropractic care is a rider in my health plan. Ordered medications are not, and that includes hormonal birth control. Oh, and an IUD has to be inserted by a doctor, and people would expect to pay a co-pay. I doubt anyone has an issue with a co-pay for BC pills, as they don't have an issue with a co-pay for an office visit or any other medication ordered. The issue is an employer's apparent "right" to exclude from coverage anything that corporation deems unacceptable- what if they don't believe in Pap smears? How about mammograms? How about colonoscopies? Gee, everyone has mentioned Viagra and Jehovah's with blood transfusions.
I am so weary of women's bodies being either an object of desire, one of distaste, one about "close your legs," and ignoring also the many many married women who use birth control.
I hate old sex-hating woman-hating men. Why don't they just go diddle someone else and get over it.
