Yeah we are being hugely over represented. Just turn on the TV or open a magazine No, wait just walk over to your radio dial. Or look at any school history book. Damn if aliens came and all of us were gone it would take them years of research to realize we existed

Quit whining that blacks didn't get what was promised-AMERICA DID NOT GET WHAT WAS PROMISED.

Most museums honor and cater mostly white accomplishments.

I think what you meant to say was "I hate the fact that blacks are getting the recognition that they deserve"

Yep. Some use the worst of us to justify their irrational feelings

You do know that reality has no place in these discussions, right?

Also I believe that there is a over saturation of many things in this country that already celebrates african Americans. Isn't it time to say "enough is enough" with wasteful spending? I can't imagine what this thing is going to be filled with!!

Obama to break ground for national black museum | M.WashingtonExaminer.com (http://m.washingtonexaminer.com/2092558/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=obama-to-break-ground-for-national-black-museum - broken link)

With eyes on his own personal legacy, President Obama revealed today that he will help in the groundbreaking of the nation's first African-American museum.
When every institution and history book throughout American history ignored anyone who failed to be white and male, it is needful.

What a shame that contributions from American women serving the military don't count in the military to the point where they'd be denied honors for valour and be excluded from Arlington. What a shame there has to be a Women in the military museum to gather their accomplishments for anyone to be aware of them. It would be nice if all servicemembers were honored strictly on merit. Not shuffled around by color codes as they were in arlington prior to their acceptance as simply being a Soldier or a Sailor.

For centuries we've given credit to these white males who accomplished tremendous things, and now when it comes the day to acknowledge the accomplishments/ contributions of all others y'all act like jealous & bitter house wives?

I've never heard any woman carry on crying that her gender was assaulted when a man won a pillsbury bake off contest. Really, now, boys! Get over yourselves.

NMAI is one of my personal favorites

Hey OP here's an idea: when the museum opens, don't go. That'll show 'em.

It would be interesting to see how the one drop rule purist KKK folks live without all the contributions from your list. No traffic lights alone.

Really, they need to live in their box safely tucked from harm from the big bad free society they wage war on and be done with it. That's all I'm willing to budge before I start thinking in terms of eviction notices for all those hell bent declaring war on my countrymen from within. This would be the same if Islamic fundies claimed themselves to be American and commenced to wage their Jihad against all others on American soil.
