Do we know for sure that Islam won't eventually get over its temper tantrum, and start becoming more tame?
Christianity wasn't exactly all flowers and bunnies when it first took over the Roman Empire and later Europe. It was the most destructive force in human history, wiping out entire populations.
Religions evolve to survive. Mormons accepted blacks after American society accepted blacks. Christianity is in the process of accepting women's and gay rights but they're in the final throws of fighting that battle. Religious leaders realize the only way to keep up the charade is to follow, albeit a few steps behind the natural progression of human social evolution. Religious numbers have been in a steady decline for years. The internet has increased that speed. Who needs some whacky guy in a strange costume telling them to follow some strange ritual when they have easy access to what's actually true? Islam will slowly moderate and then began to die just like christianity. That's what all religions fear. Islam has done a great job at keeping their flock ignorant, which is a must to sustain a religion. The internet is ending that and in time will end religion.

Islam is the odd one again among religions, its often imperialistic in nature seeking to expand elsewhere by force and persuasion, they are still doing it today in africa with force and persuasion and are making efforts to expand into western countries by persuasion and immigration.
