I thought the "Guilded Age" was back around, say, the 1500s.

I'm just a poor person, I don't know how to work the system. The housing authority here is pretty oblivious to the public.

I emailed them a question once, got no acknowledgement and no reply, so a couple weeks later I emailed the top guy and got the same result.

I'd like to just get rid of the program and all the unresponsive people who mismanage it.

It is really bad to be that 30k worker isn't it? If you're going to be poor, don't be just barely poor.

ITS possible to pay that much in taxes too. I paid 17,000 in fed taxes, and I have 68,000 taxable income. I have NO tax shelters to hide my money,no 401k,so all of my money gets taxed.

Making 3500 a. Yaer,someone qualifies for food stamps,rental aasistance,medicaid,free dentals,car insurance,EIC for all children,school lunches.heck,even in some states free cars.

Contrast that with person making 60,000. If their gas gets cut off,no program will help him out. They are SOTA.
Not buying it, using the 2011 tax table a single person with 68k in taxable income would have a liability of $13,131.

Dude, your premise has been blown clear out of the water, once your source listed Medicaid as income.

That, along with the fact that the source DID NOT include the employer provided benefits the $60k family enjoy, like HEALTH CARE INSURANCE!!!!. DUH.

Of course, a couple filing jointly would only pay $9354.

Let's not ignore the bigger error of that poster made.

They are comparing their SINGLE TAXPAYER TAXABLE INCOME of $68K to the tax paid by a family of four's GROSS INCOME of $60k. Big difference, gross income vs taxable income. A family of four might have nearly $100k in gross income to have $68k in taxable income.

So - your supporting evidence has been destroyed, yet you still feel we should take your assertion at face value. Why?

I find it funny that they failed to mention that a $60,000 career requires an education and student loans along with interest, that takes many years to pay off alone, and to make it worse those workers are usually the ones who get laid off first when companies start losing money. America, LOL.
