Did you ever stop to think that the fact that many of these birth mothers do not seek out pre-natal care? And, many are addicted to alchol and drugs?
Ever see what a crack addicted baby looks like? You should - then perhaps you might have a far better understanding of why the mortality rate is schewed
That's a BS argument. You have people with mental and drug problems in all countries. Their mortality rates are better.
But, if the US does not have the best, why wouldn't they go to the country with the best medical care?
Because "the best" is available here for many conditions, assuming you have the large amount of money needed to pay for it. But that doesn't mean we have the best healthcare for a majority of our population.
Did you read the article? Or the quotes I put up? The ones about access to medical care being a better determinant of infant survival than drug use? Do you even have any evidence that mothers in the US are more likely to do drugs during pregnancy than all of the other countries that have lower infant, newborn, and child mortality rates, not to mention longer lifespans and less cancer? Because we do have evidence that they have less access to medical care.
As has been previously pointed out, there is a growing trend of Doctors not taking insurance at all - their patients pay, out of their pockets, the office fee. And those office visit fees are not what you suggest. AND, the "walk in" clinics in Malls, and airports - where you can get a physical for less than $75.00. Get your "sniffles" treated for $39.00.
The prices I suggested, are prices I have seen on invoices. I didn't pull it out of a hat.
Sounds like you should consider moving to an area of the country where I can guarantee you would will not encounter what you described
NY has the many of the best hospitals in the country. From my experience with hospitals outside of the region, the hospital care is better, but the physicians are not.
Thanks for the link. However, the link was about an UN-INSURED person - I questioned your statement that insurance companies were doing it. Your link does not bolster your assertion
